Blog Stage 7

Recently it has been decided that cuts would be made to the Planned Parenthood budget. A company which provides various services to women such as birth control, domestic issues and an overall basic informant. Our president a man who supposed to be a representative of both the men and women of our country signed off on this legislation which aimed to cut federal spending on facilities which provide women with resources such as abortions. In my opinion acts such as the one just preformed by our president clearly demonstrates the lack of representation of the people in our country, once again Trump's decision is only reflecting that of a certain portion of the United States. In attempt to mend the damage he caused with his announcement, the president claimed he would freeze Planned Parenthood's budget if they would stop preforming abortions.
Trump's conditions for the budget are absolutely ridiculous, women should be entitled to the right of an abortion. Even if Planned Parenthood does accept to his conditions, if women can't get an abortion there than they'll find another option. This option however might not be the safest and the life of women might become at risk. But as long as the country doesn't have to pay then our president will be content.

The blog post Why should Marijuana be Legal was posted by He Who Sees In The Dark on March 31st, 2017. In the blog post the blog post the author express his opinion that marijuana should be legalized due to the fact that it contains various benefits. Marijuana is a form of natural medicines which serves as a treatment to various disorders and diseases. Not only would it benefit the people of society but the economy as well because the government would be able to tax it.
Although I do agree with the authors point that marijuana could be beneficial, I don't agree that it outweighs the harmful effects legalizing marijuana could leave. I believe that medical marijuana should be acceptable in the United States, but the restrictions placed on it should be more vigorous. The people who are able to obtain marijuana should be those who absolutely need it, recreational marijuana should not be allowed. Many believe that like now people who smoke marijuana recreational will contain to do so even if new restrictions are put into place, however legalizing marijuana would only allow their actions to become acceptable.

Blog Stage 5

Ever since Donald Trump became President he has caused America to become corrupt. One main point Trump made while campaigning for presidency was his disapproval of immigration. He made it a point to state that if he were to win the election we would build a wall between the United States and Mexico, he also made a promise to put a halt in the number of people entering America illegally. To everyone's surprise Donald Trump one, as promised he began construction of the wall and enforced a travel ban.
While America has made efforts to protest his presidency certain things just can't be changed soon enough. Protests such as 'A Day without Immigrants' which occurred almost all around the United States gave Trump and his supporters a view of what the economy would seem like if there were no immigrants in America. On that day immigrants refused to attend school, go to work or purchase anything. That day alone caused a decline with businesses due to the lack of workers and/or sale percentages, in short America's economy wouldn't or would need some time adjust to a society without immigrants.

Immigration Shouldn't be all in the Family is an editorial published on March 28, 2017 by the Editorial Board of USA Today which focuses on the "types of immigrants" Trump wants to allow in the United States. The authors bring up the fact that Trump has made numerous poor decisions when it comes to the faith of our country, however his new policy actually seems to be a reasonable request. When addressing Congress the president proposed a merit based system for legal immigration, rather than a family based one. The authors state that today's system for immigration grants visas for those who have relatives in America, which isn't allowing for the "best" immigrants to gain access into America. Trumps overall plan is to trim family immigration and increase the amount of immigrants being selected for visas through employment qualifications. In my opinion I disagree with the Editorial Board although they maintain a great amount of credibility due to the fact that their all experienced journalist, I feel that they fail to realize that many immigrants could maintain both qualifications. A immigrant could have a family and a reliable job, so would the number of the family based system vary from the merit based system?

On March 27th, 2017 Ignoring Diplomacy Past and its Future Promise was published by The Editorial Board to the New York Times. The article focuses on the amount of money president Donald Trump is cutting from programs such as foreign aid and moving that money towards the budget of the Pentagon. The author argues that tax dollars should be spent more wisely, instead of cutting down budgets the president should be urging Congress to increase the budget of important subjects such as foreign affairs. The authors main arguments were backed up by factual evidence, that being the amount of money Trump slashed or added to things such as military spending. The author made it clear of the disapproval regarding the budget cutting from President Trump, therefore the target audience was made mainly for democrats. I agree with the authors, the Editorial Board is composed of sixteen expertise journalist all of which help to compose this editorial. I believe that if Trump keeps slashing the budget of foreign affairs it may result in wars, or the damage of alliances.

Blog Stage 2

On Friday, February 10, 2017, the Huffington Post published an article titled Trump Looks At New Immigration Order. This article focuses on president Donald Trump's original travel ban, which provided restrictions to the entry of the United States; as well as his future plans to "improve" travel bans.  Due to the fact that Trump's original travel ban caused protest and rallies nationwide, some states have put the ban on hold. Although Trump's original travel ban came with various objections, he has plans to further expand "America's Security".
In my opinion this article is highly important to read due to the fact that it raises awareness. Along with the start of the elections, came protests and pure fear. Innocent people are being seen as trespassers and criminals solely because their not in their original country. This article allows minorities to realize that their are others on their side, and to continue their fight.
